Pwani University Library Guides & Resources

My Library on Fingertips (MYLOFT) is an application used by the library to authenticate authorised library users to access subscribed e-resources outside the university.

It is accessible on your web browser or downloadable from Google PlayStore or AppStore to search subscribed e-resources on your personal computer, laptop, or smartphone.

Click on the Off-Campus Eresources menu on the library site and create an account.

This guide is designed to help you use the Library catalogue to find library materials. The catalogue describes what the library owns, tells you where items are located, and shows if an item is available or checked out.

If an item is checked out, the catalogue lets you reserve the book and put your name on a waiting list.

To access the web-based catalogue from any internet-enabled computer, visit maktaba.pu.ac.ke or go to the Pwani University website, click Library, then select Library Catalogue.

1. Click on Library Catalogue from the Library Website.

2. Click on Log Into My Library Account.

3. Enter your Library Card Number (e.g., E37PU123413) and Password, then click Log In.

Note: Always remember to Log Out from your account when finished to protect your personal information.

1. Log in to your library account using your username and password.

2. A list of items you currently have checked out will appear.

3. Choose which items you want to renew. A new due date will appear.

Note: You can only renew an item once. Always remember to log out when complete.

Pwani University Library uses the Library of Congress classification system (LC) to assign call numbers. The combination of letters and numbers results in the arrangement of materials by subject.

The first letter(s) of a call number represent the broad subject of the material. If you have further questions, feel free to ask a librarian at the desk.

Visit our e-resources page and follow the link to access digital collections, subscribed databases, and online e-books both on-campus and off-campus.
